Weapos;ve had some serious bumps in the road, and thereapos;s been about 20 times in the last week I thought about hitchin up the trailer and headin back North. If this job wasnapos;t solid, with some pretty good people, moreover is going to enable us to have a real home for a change, I would have. Not that I relish the idea of resuming my fruitless job search in WA, but itapos;s closer to our comfort zone to say the least. Down here, not so much. Even the AFF scene is pretty iffy.

We had a real issue with my last remaining credit account. I paid off BofA in June, and they charged me 11 cents after I made sure it cleared and was at zero balance. I never looked at my statements (never needed to in the past when I paid it off), and they never sent me a notice, so it got locked out. I paid the $16.08 to get it current and the computer said it was still ineligble for reactivation,... All over 11 cents Frikkin computers
The worst was I almost didnapos;t have the money to get the girls home (they are Northbound on I5 now, should be home this afternoon), nevermind the $3K for the deposit. Almost lost the house before we got the papers signed We did manage, even tho no banks are lending anything to anyone unless you can offer up some serious collateral. Altho, itapos;s still up in the air as we are waiting on the appraisal. Everyone is optomistic that it wont, because itapos;s a great place and in immaculate shape, but if it comes up short by too much we lose the loan and have to start from zero,... Pretty much planning for the worst and hoping for the best at this point, Iapos;ll bang my head against that wall when it falls on me.

In the mean time, I started work already, and itapos;s a LOT more than I was led to believe it might be. Most of the techs are real good people that know thier shit tho, and that can make all the difference.

Yesterday Sarah Palin hit my car.

Okay, not really. But a perky, attractive, arrogant, brunette, middle-American 40-something woman turned left from the right lane yesterday and hit my front right fender. Her name was actually Peterson, but she, too, has five children.

I felt angry as her thoughtless driving instantly derailed my afternoonapos;s plans. And as soon as Ms. Peterson and I spoke, I disliked her "take charge" attitude. Generally speaking, I like a "take charge" attitude, but I couldnapos;t help but feel that as I was just barely detaining the scream of obscenities that I was so ready to fling at her, she was calculating how to turn the whole thing to her advantage.

I wasnapos;t hurt. My car is driveable, if dented. Ms. Peterson followed me to the police station where she insisted that she didnapos;t know there were two lanes going west, and that she was just sure that 47th was a four-lane road. Huh? I was still too angry, and working too hard to keep myself under control, to argue. I just told the police officer what had happened, as directly as possible.

This morning I was still really mad about the whole thing. Thatapos;s probably because I didnapos;t let Ms. Peterson have it yesterday. But I had to come up with some way to release all that pent-up emotion so it wonapos;t just eat at me all day.

My solution?

The compost pile. I donapos;t think I had previously appreciated just how satisfying it is to stab and twist a pitchfork into something over and over again. The yelling and cursing helped, too. About five minutes of that left me quite calm.

It reminds me of an email I got a few years ago when Fiji was in political upheaval. Some family friends who lived there wrote to say, "Weapos;re all right" In the email, the dad said his all-purpose cure for boredom, fear, anxiety, cabin fever and irritation was chopping wood. I get that now.

At the start of the week a repair man came over and fixed my oven. He was on-time, quick, friendly and affordable. Then I did some research for Hellapos;s Cafe about Lulu White and Mahogany Hall.
Today I wrote Teratopia and then had coffee with an old friend.
Tomorrow is a picnic near the Golden Gate Bridge with Zom and Nick.
Friday is a meeting with Phil about our screenplay and then NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD at the Castro with Zom.
Saturday is Max Raabe at the Paramount with Jeffrey.

Het is kermis, en niet in de stand of in het dorp, nee, op je Wii. Maar toch, wat is leuker, kermis in cyberspace, of toch de echte kermis?

In Carnival Kermis Games draait alles om minigames() die zich afspelen op de kermis. Door het spelen van die minigames kun je prijzen winnen en krijg je daarmee kaartjes, die je kunt gebruiken voor het openspelen van nieuwe gebieden op de kermis.� Er zijn meer dan 20 spellen te spelen, om de (niet geweldige, maar leuke) prijzen mee te verdien. Snel vervelen gebeurt niet, toch?

Zodra je op de kermis aankomt, kun je uit een aantal richtingen keizen, waarvan 1 richting leidt naar je spelverloop en statistieken. De rest zijn kraampjes. Je kunt niet vrij loslopen op de kermis, wat betekent dat je dus gelijk naar een spel toe wordt gesondeerd, waar je uit spellen kunt kiezen. Dit zijn de altijd leuke eeuwige kermisspellen als bijv. Kop van Jut en ringwerpen. Tja, het kinkt misschien heel kinderachtig, maar in een soort van is Carnival Kermis Games dat ook wel. De bewegingen die je moet uitvoeren voor een goede score zijn vrij simpel, en het spel is volledig nederlands. Door deze twee factoren zal het spel door de hardcore-spelers buiten beschouwing worden gelaten, maar de jongere spelers dan weer niet. Dit spel kun je spelen zonder Nunchuk.Deze game heeft ook een Multiplayerstand, deze kun je met maximaal 3 spelers spelen, das mooi, toch?

Conclusie: Een orginele keuze, kermis, dat wel, maar van een partygame met minigames kennen we het nu wel, toch. Goed dat het spel Nederlands is, maar het is voor ouderen toch te makkelijk.
